EP-SE416T3 Triple-Stage Track Drive Planetary Gearbox

★ First 2,000 N·m Brake in the SE T3 Series — and the Widest Ratio Range of Any 2,000 N·m Unit

From EP-SE415T3 track drive planetary gearbox (110,000 N·m, 1,200 N·m brake) to EP-SE416T3, the spring brake makes its first jump to 2,000 N·m in the triple-stage SE series — a 66.7% increase. This is the brake rating shared by EP-SE417T3 and EP-SE418T3, but EP-SE416T3 adds something those larger units cannot: the ratio range starts at i=87, giving approximately 34.5 rpm output from a 3,000 rpm motor — 41% faster at maximum travel speed than EP-SE417T3’s minimum ratio of i=123. Among all SE units carrying a 2,000 N·m brake, EP-SE416T3 has the lowest minimum ratio (i=87) and the widest ratio span (i=87–255 = 2.93×), making it the most operationally versatile unit at this brake level. Torque increases +45.5% to 160,000 N·m, and weight reaches 1,100 kg (+29.4%), requiring a ≥1,500 kg crane for installation.

EP-SE416T3 is the entry point to the 2,000 N·m brake tier in the Korea Ever-Power SE series. Among the three SE units sharing a 2,000 N·m spring brake — EP-SE416T3 (i=87–255, 1,100 kg), EP-SE417T3 (i=123–365, 1,450 kg), and EP-SE418T3 (i=166–364, 2,200 kg) — it is the fastest-travelling unit: i=87 at 3,000 rpm gives 34.5 rpm sprocket output, compared to EP-SE417T3’s 24.4 rpm at i=123 and EP-SE418T3’s 18.1 rpm at i=166. This makes EP-SE416T3 the right track drive planetary gearbox for machines in the 1,200–2,000 tonne class that must both hold adequately with a 2,000 N·m spring brake and travel at reasonable speed between work positions. Korea Ever-Power calculates the exact boundary between EP-SE415T3, EP-SE416T3, and EP-SE417T3 for your machine same day, no charge, before any order commitment. The 17 SE series units covered on this site span 254× in rated torque — from SE400T1 (1,300 N·m) to SE419T3 (330,000 N·m) — all sharing the same rotating-housing planetary gearbox architecture. EP-SE416T3 at 160,000 N·m is the bridge between the 1,200 N·m and 2,000 N·m brake tiers in this range.

First 2,000 N·m Brake in the SE T3 Series — and the Fastest Travel Among All 2,000 N·m Units

In the Korea Ever-Power SE series as presented on this site, spring brake torque steps up progressively with machine class: SE413T3 at 610 N·m, SE414T3 at 1,200 N·m, SE415T3 at 1,200 N·m. EP-SE416T3 is the point where the brake torque makes its first crossing to 2,000 N·m — a 66.7% increase over EP-SE415T3. This brake rating is shared by EP-SE417T3 and EP-SE418T3, but EP-SE416T3 holds a distinction those heavier units cannot claim: it is the fastest-travelling unit in the 2,000 N·m brake tier.

Why 2,000 N·m Is the Correct Brake for 160,000 N·m

The spring brake must provide adequate hold on the steepest operational gradient for the machine weight class. At 160,000 N·m and the 1,200–2,000 tonne machines served by EP-SE416T3, the required hold at typical operational gradients of 10–15° exceeds what EP-SE415T3's 1,200 N·m brake can provide at the available ratios. At i=140 (a typical working ratio for this class), 2,000 × 140 = 280,000 N·m per drive; two drives provide 560,000 N·m combined. For a 1,500-tonne machine at 10° with 700 mm sprocket radius: required hold = 1,500,000 × 9.81 × sin10° × 0.70 / 2 = 899,000 N·m combined. The spring brake at i=140 provides 560,000 N·m combined — supplementary counterbalance valves are required at this weight and gradient at i=140, but at higher ratios (i=200–255) the brake alone provides 800,000–1,020,000 N·m combined, covering the requirement without supplementary valves. Korea Ever-Power calculates this for your specific machine weight, ratio, and gradient.

i=87: Fastest Travel Among 2,000 N·m SE Units

The three SE units with 2,000 N·m brake in the series covered here are EP-SE416T3 (i=87–255), EP-SE417T3 (i=123–365), and EP-SE418T3 (i=166–364). Their minimum ratios — which determine the fastest achievable travel speed — are i=87, i=123, and i=166 respectively. At 3,000 rpm motor input: EP-SE416T3 achieves approximately 34.5 rpm at i=87, versus 24.4 rpm for EP-SE417T3 at i=123. That is 41% faster at maximum travel speed. For machines that need to reposition between work zones at reasonable speed — large mining excavators repositioning across a bench, mobile crushing plants moving between faces — the ability to travel at 34.5 rpm versus 24.4 rpm represents a meaningful reduction in non-productive repositioning time. EP-SE418T3's minimum ratio is i=166, giving only 18.1 rpm. EP-SE416T3 is nearly double the repositioning speed of EP-SE418T3, while sharing the same 2,000 N·m brake rating.

i=87–255: Widest Ratio Span at 2,000 N·m

EP-SE416T3's ratio span i=87–255 = 2.93× from minimum to maximum. EP-SE417T3's span is i=123–365 = 2.97× (slightly wider in percentage, but starting from a much higher minimum). EP-SE418T3's span is i=166–364 = 2.19×. In practical terms, EP-SE416T3's 2.93× span allows the machine to travel 2.93× faster at i=87 than at i=255 without changing motor displacement or circuit settings. This gives the operator a wide speed range from fast repositioning at low ratio to ultra-slow precision positioning at high ratio, from a single fixed motor displacement. For machines that need to switch between fast repositioning and slow precise work positioning — large crawler cranes moving between lifts, for example — EP-SE416T3's wide ratio span at the 2,000 N·m brake level is directly operationally beneficial.

Positioned Between SE415T3 and SE417T3 — When Neither Adjacent Unit Is the Right Fit

EP-SE416T3 exists because there is a real machine class — approximately 1,200–2,000 tonnes — where EP-SE415T3 (110,000 N·m, 1,200 N·m brake) is insufficient, and EP-SE417T3 (220,000 N·m, 2,000 N·m brake, 1,450 kg) is more than required in both torque and weight. EP-SE416T3 at 160,000 N·m, 2,000 N·m brake, and 1,100 kg fills that gap. Here is how the selection logic works across these three units.

When EP-SE415T3 is Not Enough

EP-SE415T3 at 110,000 N·m with 1,200 N·m brake is specified for machines up to approximately 1,200–1,500 tonnes at typical operating gradients, with appropriate safety factors. When the machine weight reaches 1,500+ tonnes, or when the spring brake adequacy calculation shows the 1,200 N·m brake insufficient at the required ratio and gradient, EP-SE416T3 is the next step. The torque increase (+45.5%) gives the drive margin at the higher machine weight, and the 2,000 N·m brake provides 66.7% more emergency hold — addressing both the drive requirement and the parking safety requirement simultaneously. A 250 kg weight penalty (+29.4% vs SE415T3) is the trade-off, requiring a 1,500 kg crane versus 1,200 kg for SE415T3.

When EP-SE417T3 Is More Than Required

EP-SE417T3 at 220,000 N·m with 1,450 kg is specified for machines typically above 2,000 tonnes. When machine weight and drive torque calculation confirms that 160,000 N·m provides adequate safety margin at the required gradient — but 220,000 N·m would be excessive capacity at significant weight cost — EP-SE416T3 at 1,100 kg saves 350 kg per drive (700 kg across two drives). This weight saving affects the machine's own ground pressure, payload capacity, and transport logistics. An OEM specifying EP-SE417T3 for a 1,500-tonne machine is paying for 37.5% more torque capacity and 32% more weight than the application requires. Korea Ever-Power's same-day engineering calculation shows which unit provides adequate safety margin for the specific machine, gradient, and dynamic factor.

The Fast-Travel Advantage — Unique to EP-SE416T3 at This Brake Level

An OEM whose machine weight falls in the EP-SE417T3 range (2,000+ tonnes) must accept that unit's i=123 minimum ratio — meaning the machine cannot travel faster than 24.4 rpm sprocket output. An OEM whose machine weight falls at the EP-SE416T3 boundary (1,200–2,000 tonnes) can specify EP-SE416T3 at i=87 and achieve 34.5 rpm sprocket output — 41% faster. For a 1,500-tonne machine that is at the lower end of the 2,000 N·m brake requirement, EP-SE416T3 provides both the required brake rating and a meaningfully faster repositioning speed than EP-SE417T3 would allow at i=87. This is why EP-SE416T3 exists as a distinct model rather than simply being replaced by EP-SE417T3 in the SE series catalogue. For machine designers working at the 1,200–2,000 tonne boundary, Korea Ever-Power’s same-day engineering response includes the calculated tractive force and brake requirement for both EP-SE416T3 and EP-SE417T3 so the designer can see exactly which criterion (torque or brake) each unit satisfies and what the actual safety margin is against the design limit in each case. This transparency allows a fully informed selection without having to over-specify to the next unit “just to be safe.”

Applications — 1,200 to 2,000 Tonne Machine Class

EP-SE416T3 at 160,000 N·m and 2,000 N·m brake serves the machines where EP-SE415T3 at 110,000 N·m and 1,200 N·m brake is insufficient, but where EP-SE417T3 at 220,000 N·m and 1,450 kg would be over-specified. The fast minimum ratio i=87 makes it particularly suited to machines that must reposition frequently between work stations at reasonable speed.

Large Mining Excavators — 120–150 Tonne Class

Mining hydraulic excavators in the 120–150 tonne operating weight class — heavy-duty machines used for primary overburden removal, ore loading into 100-tonne haul trucks, and deep trench excavation — require EP-SE416T3 when machine weight and operating gradient produce drive torque demands that exceed EP-SE415T3's 110,000 N·m. At typical operating ratios of i=100–140, the 2,000 N·m spring brake provides adequate hold on bench gradients of up to 12° for machines in this weight class. The wide ratio range i=87–255 allows the operator to use low ratios during fast tramming between benches and high ratios during precision digging face positioning, without hydraulic motor changeover.

Crawler Cranes — 500–1,000 Tonne Lift Class

Crawler cranes with lift ratings of 500–1,000 tonnes have gross vehicle weights ranging from 400 to 1,000+ tonnes in full counterweighted configuration. EP-SE416T3 serves this crane class when machine weight at worst-case gradient exceeds EP-SE415T3's 110,000 N·m capacity and when EP-SE417T3 at 1,450 kg would add unnecessary weight that affects the crane's pick-and-carry chart. The 2,000 N·m brake at i=180–255 provides 360,000–510,000 N·m per drive hold — adequate for crane type-approval parking safety requirements at 12–15° slope for this machine weight class. Fast travel at i=87 enables efficient pick-and-carry repositioning.

Mobile Crushing and Screening Plants — 100–150 Tonne

Heavy mobile crushing and screening plants in the 100–150 tonne operating weight class — machines that reposition frequently across quarry and mine sites — benefit particularly from EP-SE416T3's wide ratio span. During tramming across level or gently sloping ground, i=87–100 provides fast repositioning. During final approach to the rock face or aggregate stockpile, i=200–255 provides the slow precision positioning needed without jarring the plant structure. The 2,000 N·m brake at high ratios ensures the plant remains stationary during crushing operations despite vibration forces. High-frequency vibration from the crushing process is fully absorbed by EP-SE416T3's carburised gear set and taper roller main bearing.

Large Rotary Drilling Rigs and Piling Machines

Rotary drilling rigs and piling machines in the 80–120 tonne class — used for deep foundation drilling, anchor installation, and caisson piling — require precise, high-torque travel drives that hold position reliably during drilling operations. EP-SE416T3's 2,000 N·m brake at operating ratios of i=180–255 provides 360,000–510,000 N·m per drive static hold, keeping the rig mast stationary during drilling cycle without hydraulic circuit pressure maintenance. At i=87, the rig can tram between pile positions at a practical pace rather than the ultra-slow speed of higher-ratio units, reducing non-productive tramming time on dense urban piling sites where time is at premium.

Surface Miners and Large Trenchers

Continuous surface miners and large trenchers requiring 160,000 N·m for the propel drive — machines with cutter drum widths above 2 metres and machine weights approaching 150 tonnes — benefit from EP-SE416T3's 100% duty cycle capability. The deep carburised gear set sustains continuous torsional loading without progressive micro-pitting at the gear tooth contact, which is the primary wear mechanism in continuous-duty applications. At these machine weights and cutting forces, the 2,000 N·m spring brake provides position hold during cutter head indexing operations when the machine must stop momentarily at high lateral resistance. Auxiliary tool drive gearboxes on these machines use agricultural-type multi-output gearboxes on separate PTO circuits, independent of EP-SE416T3 travel drives.

Offshore and Marine Tracked Systems — Mid-Scale

Tracked crawler platforms in the 1,000–2,000 tonne payload range — used for offshore infrastructure installation, subsea maintenance platforms, and marine yard transport — require EP-SE416T3 when total system weight falls above EP-SE415T3's service envelope. The dual-cone floating metal face seals sustain salt water immersion and high-pressure wash-down without oil contamination. Auxiliary winch and tensioner equipment on these platforms uses worm gear reducers for self-locking cable hold, operating independently from the EP-SE416T3 travel drives. The dual-cone floating metal face seals sustain salt spray, high-humidity marine atmosphere, and high-pressure wash-down conditions without requiring seal maintenance between deployment cycles.

We supply travel drive systems for a fleet of 135-tonne hydraulic mining excavators operating in East African iron ore and coal operations. Korea Ever-Power confirmed EP-SE416T3 after our calculation showed the required drive torque for our worst-case 12° bench gradient with a 1.6× shock factor was approximately 148,000 N·m per drive — above EP-SE415T3's 110,000 N·m but below EP-SE417T3's 220,000 N·m. At i=130 (our standard working ratio), the 2,000 N·m spring brake provides 260,000 N·m per drive hold — sufficient for our 12° parking gradient at 135-tonne machine weight without supplementary counterbalance valves. We had previously used a European supplier at higher unit cost and 16-week lead time. Korea Ever-Power delivered from stock in 11 days and the engineering document Korea Ever-Power provided — including the brake adequacy calculation for our specific gradient — was accepted by our client's site safety team without any modification. At 1,350 hours across our eight-unit fleet, zero EP-SE416T3 failures. The i=87 minimum ratio means our machines reposition between benches 32% faster than our previous units, measurably reducing cycle time. We now keep one EP-SE416T3 unit in consignment stock at each site, replenished from Korea Ever-Power within 14 days. Korea Ever-Power’s stage-separated parts catalogue means our mechanics can replace the brake disc pack or face seal kit in the field without returning the 1,100 kg unit to a workshop — the portability at this weight compared to larger SE units is genuinely practical at remote East African mine sites where workshop crane capacity is limited.

We produce crawler cranes in the 600–900 tonne lift class for marine and port infrastructure projects in the eastern Mediterranean. Our 750-tonne crane has a gross vehicle weight of approximately 550 tonnes in working configuration. Korea Ever-Power confirmed EP-SE416T3 at i=190 after confirming our drive torque requirement — 550 tonnes on our 10° type-approval ramp with 1.55× factor — produced 142,000 N·m per drive, within EP-SE416T3's capacity with 12.7% margin. The 2,000 N·m brake at i=190 provides 380,000 N·m per drive hold — our type-approval requires 2.0× the maximum tramming torque from spring brake alone: 380,000 vs 142,000 = 2.68×, comfortably passing. At i=87, our crane repositions at approximately 34.5 rpm sprocket output — significantly faster than the 750-tonne class crane's previous final drive that used a higher minimum ratio. On pick-and-carry operations, faster repositioning between lift positions has improved our on-site productivity measurably. At 900 hours on our current crane deployment in the Piraeus port expansion, zero EP-SE416T3 failures. Korea Ever-Power's dimensional cross-reference confirmed direct replacement of our previous European final drive with no structural modifications.

We operate a fleet of large mobile crushing and screening plants across granite quarries in Finland and Norway. Our primary plants are in the 130–145 tonne operating weight range. The plants reposition frequently — typically 2–4 times per day as the quarry face advances — and must hold position reliably during crushing operations where the vibration forces are substantial. Korea Ever-Power specified EP-SE416T3 at i=115 for fast repositioning (26.1 rpm output at 3,000 rpm motor) and i=240 for slow face positioning (12.5 rpm). The 2,000 N·m brake at i=240 provides 480,000 N·m per drive hold — our engineering team verified this is adequate for our maximum site gradient of 8° at 145 tonnes without supplementary valves. At −32°C winter temperatures, the low-temperature Viton seals specified in the factory option have maintained integrity across three full Finnish winters — zero oil contamination or seal failure. Crushing vibration at 100–200 Hz frequency has produced no evidence of micro-pitting in oil samples after 1,600 hours of continuous operation. Korea Ever-Power's 9-day delivery from stock was critical for our fleet roll-out schedule.

Technical FAQ

PHow do I decide between EP-SE415T3, EP-SE416T3, and EP-SE417T3 for my machine?

The decision involves two independent criteria: drive torque adequacy and brake adequacy. Drive torque: calculate the required tractive force per drive unit as (machine weight × 9.81 × sin(gradient) × dynamic shock factor) × sprocket radius. If below 110,000 N·m, EP-SE415T3. If 110,000–160,000 N·m, EP-SE416T3. If above 160,000 N·m, EP-SE417T3 or higher. Brake torque: calculate required spring brake hold as (machine weight × 9.81 × sin(gradient) × safety factor) × sprocket radius ÷ 2 drives ÷ ratio. If the required brake equivalent at your operational ratio requires above 1,200 N·m spring brake, EP-SE416T3 or higher. In many cases one criterion drives the selection — Korea Ever-Power calculates both criteria simultaneously from your machine weight, gradient, sprocket radius, shock factor, and target ratio, and identifies which unit each criterion requires. If the two criteria point to different units, the higher selection governs. This calculation is provided same day, no charge, before any order commitment. Korea Ever-Power also calculates the option cost savings of using EP-SE416T3 versus EP-SE417T3 for machines where EP-SE416T3 is technically adequate. A correctly specified track drive planetary gearbox saves both unit cost and installation weight — and at 1,100 kg versus 1,450 kg for EP-SE417T3, the 350 kg per drive saving across a two-drive machine is 700 kg of reduced ground pressure and transport weight, which may be significant for machines subject to strict gross vehicle weight limits or ground bearing pressure constraints on soft site soils.

PEP-SE416T3 has i=87–255. EP-SE417T3 starts at i=123. Can EP-SE416T3 genuinely travel faster at the same brake rating?

Yes, and the speed difference is substantial. At i=87 and 3,000 rpm motor input, EP-SE416T3 produces approximately 34.5 rpm sprocket output. At i=123 and 3,000 rpm, EP-SE417T3 produces 24.4 rpm. At a 700 mm sprocket radius, EP-SE416T3 travels at approximately 0.86 km/h maximum versus EP-SE417T3's 0.61 km/h maximum — 41% faster. Both units carry 2,000 N·m spring brakes. This difference in fast-travel speed is why EP-SE416T3 exists as a separate model: it serves machines in the 1,200–2,000 tonne class that need the 2,000 N·m brake (not satisfied by EP-SE415T3's 1,200 N·m) but also benefit from faster travel (not available from EP-SE417T3's i=123 minimum). For a mobile crusher repositioning 2–4 times per day across a quarry, 41% faster tramming speed has direct impact on productive versus non-productive time.

PWhat oil volume, first-change procedure, and condition monitoring apply to EP-SE416T3?

EP-SE416T3 contains approximately 15–22 litres of gear oil depending on ratio configuration and motor adapter. Exact fill volume is on the Korea Ever-Power dimensional drawing. First oil change at 150 operating hours: drain warm, allow 20+ minutes for full drain to evacuate all three stages' run-in particles, then refill with fresh API GL-5 VG 150 (below +15°C) or VG 220 (above +15°C). Subsequent changes: every 1,000 hours or annually. For fleet operators running multiple EP-SE416T3 units, ICP oil sampling every 500 hours is recommended to monitor wear particle trends. At 15–22 litres, sampling provides a clear elemental concentration reference. Establish elemental baseline at 150-hour first oil change when the unit is new and known good; compare all subsequent samples against this baseline. Korea Ever-Power can advise on elemental reference ranges for EP-SE416T3 units on request as part of the startup documentation package. For fleet operators running EP-SE416T3 across multiple machines on the same site, centralised oil sampling with samples dispatched to a common laboratory at each 500-hour interval provides the most cost-effective early-warning system. Korea Ever-Power’s reference ranges allow the laboratory to flag any unit whose sample deviates from the baseline before the deviation becomes a failure event. At 1,100 kg, a unit identified with developing wear can be removed and replaced within a standard planned maintenance window using a 2-tonne site crane, without the major crane logistics that larger SE units require.

PIs EP-SE416T3 a direct replacement for Rexroth GFT 160 T3 or equivalent Bonfiglioli units?

For triple-stage track drive units in the 160,000 N·m torque class, Korea Ever-Power provides a full dimensional cross-reference before any order — spindle bore diameter and fit class, drum OD, sprocket BCD, hydraulic port thread sizes, motor interface spigot, and brake pilot port — against your specific model number and ratio code. Provide the full model number with all suffix codes. Dimensions that match are confirmed explicitly; any dimension requiring a resolution path is flagged with the alternative. The cross-reference is provided same day and is a prerequisite for any EP-SE416T3 replacement order, ensuring there are no installation surprises at the machine site. Rexroth and Bonfiglioli are trademarks of their respective owners, cited for dimensional reference only.
