EP-ZDS Series High-Stiffness Precision Planetary Gearbox

The EP-ZDS Series is a high-stiffness heavy-load precision planetary gearbox with a square mounting flange, available in three frame sizes from EP-ZDS-115 to EP-ZDS-190. It delivers rated output torque from 125 N·m up to 1,800 N·m — more than double the 800 N·m maximum of the EP-ZDE/ZDF series. Maximum axial force reaches 28,000 N at the 190-frame, compared to 3,000 N for EP-ZDE-160. Torsional stiffness reaches 130 N·m/arcmin (190-frame, 1-stage). All units are rated IP65 — dust-tight and water-jet protected, exceeding the IP54 of other EP series. EP-ZDS is the Korea Ever-Power specification for heavy-duty robot joints, large CNC pallet changers, servo press main drives, and high-force industrial automation in Korean and Asian manufacturing.

★ When EP-ZDE/ZDF-160 at 800 N·m Is Not Enough — EP-ZDS Delivers 1,800 N·m, IP65, and 9× the Axial Force Capacity

EP-ZDS is the Korea Ever-Power heavy-load 精密行星齿轮箱 engineered when the precision series (EP-ZDE/ZDF) reaches its torque, axial load, or environmental protection ceiling. At 190-frame: 1,800 N·m output torque (2.25× the 800 N·m of EP-ZDE/ZDF-160), 28,000 N axial force (9.3× the 3,000 N of EP-ZDE-160), 130 N·m/arcmin torsional stiffness, and IP65 full water-jet protection — all in a square-flange unit that mounts identically to EP-ZDF planetary gearbox at the same frame size.

EP-ZDS series high-stiffness planetary gearbox and heavy-load servo gear reducer from Korea Ever-Power is the top-tier product in the EP precision gear reducer range — specifically engineered for heavy-duty Korean industrial applications where the standard EP-ZDE/ZDF precision series is structurally insufficient. Three frame sizes cover the 115 mm, 142 mm, and 190 mm body cross-sections, with inline input, square output flange, and rated torque from 125 N·m to 1,800 N·m. The IP65 sealed housing withstands direct water-jet washing — essential for Korean automotive press lines, food processing equipment, and outdoor industrial installations where IP54 splash protection is inadequate.

The high torsional stiffness (up to 130 N·m/arcmin for the 190-frame 1-stage unit, versus 38 N·m/arcmin for EP-ZDE-160) is achieved through reinforced bearing support, larger-diameter internal gears, and a stiffer output shaft cross-section. This stiffness directly reduces angular deflection under peak torque, which is the primary source of dynamic positioning error in heavy-load servo axes — particularly relevant for Korean heavy robot joint drives and large CNC pallet-changer drives where peak torque during acceleration determines the axis accuracy specification.

EP-ZDE/ZDF PRECISION SERIES — UPPER LIMITS

Max torque (160-frame): 800 N·m
Max axial force (160): 3,000 N

Max axial force (190): 28,000 N ↑9.3×
Torsional stiffness: 130 N·m/arcmin ↑3.4×
Protection: IP65 (water-jet)
Frame range: 115–190 mm

Four Engineering Situations That Require EP-ZDS

① Output Torque Exceeds 800 N·m — EP-ZDE/ZDF Has No Higher Frame

EP-ZDE and EP-ZDF max out at 800 N·m (160-frame, 16:1 or 20:1 two-stage). Applications requiring higher output torque — large industrial robot base joint drives (typically 900–1,500 N·m at the J1 joint for Korean 100–200 kg payload robots), heavy CNC pallet changer servo drives, and servo press main reduction stages above 800 N·m — have no option within the precision series. EP-ZDS 行星齿轮箱 starts at 125 N·m and scales to 1,800 N·m at the 190-frame, covering the torque range from where EP-ZDE/ZDF ends to the heavy industrial automation ceiling in the Korea Ever-Power range.

② Axial Load Exceeds 3,000 N — Thrust Axes and Vertical Drive Applications

Applications where the output shaft carries significant axial (thrust) load — Z-axis servo drives on heavy gantry machines where the spindle weight acts axially on the gearbox output, hydraulic press backup servo axes where the cylinder back-pressure creates axial thrust, and vertical conveyor drives where the loaded belt tension acts in the shaft axis direction — quickly exceed the 3,000 N limit of EP-ZDE-160. EP-ZDS-190 handles 28,000 N axial force — covering Korean heavy gantry machining Z-axes and vertical elevator-type industrial conveyors that generate 5,000–20,000 N of sustained axial load on the gearbox output shaft.

③ IP65 Required — Washdown, Water-Jet, or Immersion-Adjacent Environments

Korean automotive body-shop press lines, food processing equipment under HACCP washdown protocols, and outdoor construction machinery drives operate in environments where direct water-jet cleaning is applied to the machine — frequently to adjacent components and sometimes to the gearbox itself. IP54 (EP-ZDE/ZDF) resists splashing from any direction but cannot withstand a direct water jet. EP-ZDS IP65 sealing (IEC 60529) withstands water projected by a nozzle (6.3 mm nozzle, 12.5 L/min flow rate, from any direction) — meeting the washdown requirements of Korean HACCP-certified food processing plants and automotive press line cleaning procedures without requiring additional protective covers around the gearbox.

④ High Torsional Stiffness Required — Dynamic Accuracy Under Peak Torque

In servo-driven axes where the load torque varies rapidly — robot arm acceleration/deceleration cycles, CNC contouring axes with high-frequency direction reversals, and servo press drives with impact loading at the bottom of stroke — the gearbox torsional deflection under peak torque adds directly to the axis positioning error. At 38 N·m/arcmin (EP-ZDE-160), a peak torque of 380 N·m produces 10 arcmin (0.17°) of elastic deflection at the output shaft. At 130 N·m/arcmin (EP-ZDS-190), the same 380 N·m peak produces only 2.9 arcmin — a 70% reduction in dynamic deflection error. Korean heavy robot and precision press engineers specify EP-ZDS when the torsional deflection under peak load exceeds the axis accuracy budget.

Installation Guide — EP-ZDS High-Stiffness Heavy-Load Series

Square Flange Mounting — Any Orientation, IP65 Sealing Maintained

EP-ZDS mounts via its square output flange face, identical in principle to EP-ZDF. The significantly larger flange dimensions, higher bolt torque requirements, and IP65 sealing protocol require specific attention during installation to maintain the IP65 rating under field conditions.

Planerary Gearbox Assembly Procedure

1

Pre-Installation Verification

Confirm the EP-ZDS frame size (115/142/190), gear ratio, square housing size D7, and input flange Q3 matches the servo motor. Check that the output shaft D4 matches your coupling bore (Φ32/Φ40/Φ55h7). For IP65 applications: inspect the output shaft lip seal and housing gasket for damage before installation — any compromise to these seals will reduce the protection rating.

2

Motor Coupling — Heavy-Frame Clamping Input

Insert the servo motor shaft fully into the input bore — for ZDS-190, the input bore accommodates large servo motors up to 5,500 W. Tighten S-type clamping screws in a cross pattern to the specified torque. For high-torque applications (ZDS-190 at 1,800 N·m), verify the motor shaft is fully engaged to the maximum depth L2 before tightening — partial shaft engagement reduces the effective clamping length and the maximum transmissible torque.

3

Machine Frame Preparation — Heavy-Load Plate

The machine plate must be rated for the significantly higher loads of EP-ZDS. For ZDS-190 at 1,800 N·m rated torque, the machine plate material and thickness should be engineered to handle 3,600 N·m instant stop torque plus the radial and axial loads. Plate flatness: 0.02 mm across the full flange face. Use class 10.9 bolts for all ZDS frame sizes — class 8.8 is insufficient for the maximum rated torque at 115-frame and above.

4

Flange Mounting — 4-Bolt, Class 10.9

Install class 10.9 bolts through the flange holes and torque evenly in a cross pattern — recommended bolt torque for the PCD and bolt diameter is significantly higher than for EP-ZDF at equivalent frame sizes, reflecting the higher rated torque. For IP65 washdown environments, apply thread-locking compound to all mounting bolts and consider a thread seal for bolt holes that penetrate into the machine structure cavity where wash water could ingress.

5

Output Shaft Connection — Large Coupling

Connect the load via a heavy-duty coupling on the h7 output shaft. For ZDS-190 (D4 = Φ55h7), warm the coupling hub to 100–120°C before pressing — the larger interference fit requires higher press force than smaller-frame units. Confirm axial load does not exceed 28,000 N for ZDS-190 measured at shaft centre L4/2. For vertical axes with gravity loads acting axially, calculate the sustained axial force including motor rotor weight and coupling hub weight.

6

Run-In, Load Test & IP65 Verification

Run no-load for 60 minutes at ≤50% rated input speed (heavier gear masses require longer run-in). Gradually increase to rated load over the first 4 hours of operation. For IP65 applications: after the first washdown cycle, inspect the output shaft lip seal and housing joint for any sealing failure. Re-torque the 4 mounting bolts after the first full thermal cycle. Verify system backlash and record as baseline — for heavy robot joints, verify with the joint under rated static load to confirm torsional deflection is within specification.

⚠ Heavy-Load Installation Cautions: EP-ZDS handles significantly higher torques and forces than EP-ZDE/ZDF — ensure all connected mechanical structure, fasteners, and machine frame members are rated for the ZDS maximum load conditions including the 2× instant stop torque. Use class 10.9 bolts only — class 8.8 is undersized for ZDS-115 and above at maximum rated torque. ZDS-190 maximum input speed is 3,000 rpm (not 4,500 rpm) — do not exceed this limit. Do not attempt external lubrication — the IP65-sealed housing has no lubrication port.

✔ IP65 + Lifetime Lubrication: The EP-ZDS factory-sealed design provides IP65 water-jet protection and lifetime lubrication in a single sealed unit. In washdown environments, confirm the servo motor's IP rating matches the application requirement — the gearbox IP65 sealing only protects the gearbox body. Motor cable entry points and cable chain sealing must be separately addressed. No re-greasing required — the IP65 housing has no grease port and cannot be re-lubricated in the field.

Applications — EP-ZDS High-Stiffness Planetary Gearbox in Korean Heavy Industry

Heavy Industrial Robot Joints — Base (J1) and Waist (J2) Axes

Korean heavy industrial robot manufacturers building 100–200 kg payload robots for automotive body-shop welding, heavy press loading, and large-part assembly use EP-ZDS-142 and EP-ZDS-190 for the base (J1) and waist (J2) joint drives. A 150 kg payload Korean industrial robot J1 joint typically requires 900–1,400 N·m continuous torque and peak torque up to 2,800 N·m during emergency stop — within the EP-ZDS-190 2× instant stop torque of 3,600 N·m. The 130 N·m/arcmin torsional stiffness (190-frame, 1-stage) minimises angular deflection at the J1 joint during high-speed payload acceleration, directly affecting the robot's TCP (tool centre point) path accuracy. IP65 protection covers these robots' installation in Korean automotive body-shop environments subject to weld spatter and periodic coolant washdown.

Large CNC Pallet Changers & Rotary Tables — Heavy Workpiece Drives

Korean large-format machining centre manufacturers building pallet changer systems for 500–2,000 kg workpieces use EP-ZDS-190 for the pallet indexing drive. A 1,000 kg pallet at 600 mm radius generates 6,000 N·m of gravitational torque during pallet tipping — requiring an instantaneous torque capacity of at least 6,000 N·m in the drive. EP-ZDS-190 at 20:1 two-stage delivers 1,800 N·m rated torque with 3,600 N·m instant stop capacity; combined with a higher-ratio motor, the total system torque capacity covers the pallet tipping load with a dynamic safety factor. The 28,000 N axial force capacity of ZDS-190 absorbs the pallet weight acting axially through the rotary index axis when the pallet is in the vertical orientation during changeover.

Servo Press Main Drive — IP65 for Stamping Environment

Korean automotive tier-1 stamping press OEMs and retrofit press builders use EP-ZDS-142 and EP-ZDS-190 for the main eccentric shaft servo drive reduction stage on 250–500 tonne servo presses. Stamping press environments involve metal forming lubricant mist, hydraulic oil spray, and periodic machine cleaning — conditions that defeat IP54 sealing over time. EP-ZDS IP65 provides reliable protection against direct lubricant spray and machine washing procedures. At 1,800 N·m (ZDS-190), the gearbox output drives the press eccentric shaft via a coupling, with the 140 N·m/arcmin two-stage torsional stiffness minimising angular deflection error at the press ram during the stamping impact at bottom of stroke — directly affecting the stamped part dimensional repeatability.

Automated Guided Vehicle Heavy-Payload Drive — High Axial Load

Korean heavy-payload AGV manufacturers building load carriers for 5,000–20,000 kg warehouse loads — steel coil transporters, automotive body pallet AGVs, and heavy industrial parts carriers — use EP-ZDS-142 and EP-ZDS-190 for the drive wheel servo reductions. The 28,000 N axial force capacity of ZDS-190 handles the axial (vertical) load component from the AGV drive wheel bearing the vehicle gross weight directly through the gearbox output shaft. At 4,500 kg vehicle weight on a single drive unit, the static axial force on the output shaft bearing is approximately 22,000 N — within the ZDS-190 axial capacity with a safety margin. For the right-angle motor configuration needed in low-profile heavy AGV designs, contact Korea Ever-Power for the combined ZDS + ZDWE custom configuration.

Food & Beverage Processing — IP65 Washdown Drive Axes

Korean food processing OEMs building high-torque servo-driven mixing, kneading, and extrusion equipment under HACCP and Korean Food Safety certification requirements specify EP-ZDS for the main drive reduction stage. HACCP washdown protocols call for high-pressure water-jet cleaning of all machine surfaces — including the drive gearbox. EP-ZDS IP65 sealing withstands the direct water-jet cleaning cycle required under Korean HACCP standards without ingress into the gearbox. The lifetime sealed lubrication provides the additional compliance benefit of zero grease leakage risk onto food-contact surfaces, which would require a production halt and sanitation event under Korean food safety regulations.

Wind & Renewable Energy — Yaw & Pitch Drive Reduction

Korean wind turbine component manufacturers and renewable energy equipment builders specify EP-ZDS-190 for the servo-driven yaw axis and blade pitch adjustment drives on small-to-medium wind turbines (100–750 kW class) installed at Korean coastal and mountain ridge sites. EP-ZDS-190 at 1,800 N·m provides the continuous yaw torque required to rotate the turbine nacelle at 2–5 rpm against wind load, while IP65 sealing addresses the high-humidity and rain exposure at outdoor Korean turbine installations. The −25°C to +90°C operating range covers Korean mountain winter conditions at yaw bearing installation heights. For large-format solar tracker azimuth drives at utility-scale Korean solar farms, EP-ZDS-142 at 780–910 N·m two-stage covers the typical single-row tracker drive torque budget with the IP65 outdoor protection that IP54 cannot provide in Korean coastal locations with salt spray.

Why Korean Engineers Specify Korea Ever-Power EP-ZDS

💪

1,800 N·m — The Top Torque in the Korea Ever-Power EP Range

EP-ZDS-190 at 1,800 N·m is the highest-torque product in the entire Korea Ever-Power EP precision 行星齿轮箱 range. For Korean heavy robot, press, and pallet changer applications at the top of the torque scale, EP-ZDS-190 is the product ceiling — there is no higher-rated EP unit. At 14:1 two-stage, ZDS-190 achieves the 1,800 N·m rating that enables a 1,000 W servo motor to drive a 4,500 kg industrial robot joint through a 2-metre radius arm.

🛡️

IP65 — The Only EP Series with Water-Jet Protection

EP-ZDS is the only EP series 行星齿轮箱 rated IP65 — all other EP series (ZDE, ZDF, ZDWE, ZDWF) are IP54. For Korean HACCP food processing, automotive body-shop washdown, and outdoor solar and wind installations where direct water-jet cleaning or rain exposure is the operating condition, EP-ZDS is the only EP precision planetary gearbox that meets the IP specification without additional external sealing covers.

🎯

<8 arcmin at 1,800 N·m — Precision Without Compromise

EP-ZDS delivers the same <8 arcmin single-stage backlash as EP-ZDE/ZDF — at 2.25× the torque. Korean engineers who need high torque AND low backlash in the same unit do not have to choose between precision and capacity. The high torsional stiffness (130 N·m/arcmin, 190-frame 1-stage) further reduces dynamic deflection error under peak torque, improving servo axis accuracy during acceleration transients in heavy robot and press applications.

28,000 N Axial — 9.3× the Axial Capacity of EP-ZDE-160

The 28,000 N axial force capacity of EP-ZDS-190 opens up applications that are structurally impossible for the precision series — heavy AGV drive wheel bearings carrying vehicle gross weight axially through the gearbox output shaft, vertical machining centre spindle Z-axis drives with heavy spindle mass acting axially, and hydraulic press backup servo systems where cylinder pressure generates sustained axial thrust on the servo drive shaft.

🔒

20,000-Hour Lifetime Lubrication — Zero Maintenance at 1,800 N·m

EP-ZDS uses the same factory-sealed lifetime lubrication as the precision series — rated for 20,000 hours at full rated load (1,800 N·m, 190-frame). Heavy-load gearboxes at this torque level are traditionally gear-oil-lubricated with scheduled oil changes every 6–12 months. Korea Ever-Power's EP-ZDS grease-for-life sealed design eliminates the oil change cycle, the oil level monitoring, and the leakage risk at oil seals — a significant operational cost saving for Korean robot and press manufacturers maintaining large installed fleets.

EP-ZDS-190 at 16:1 two-stage for the J1 (base rotation) joint of a 165 kg payload industrial robot destined for Korean automotive body-shop welding lines. J1 continuous torque requirement: 1,200 N·m, peak emergency stop: 2,800 N·m. ZDS-190 rated 1,800 N·m continuous, 3,600 N·m instant stop — covers both with margin. The 140 N·m/arcmin two-stage torsional stiffness was the deciding factor over a competitor 1,600 N·m unit at 95 N·m/arcmin — our TCP path accuracy simulation showed 28% lower angular deflection error at peak joint acceleration with the ZDS-190 stiffness value. After 22 months in automotive body-shop operation with daily washdown, zero IP65 seal failures across 12 robots. Korea Ever-Power provided the J1 torque calculation from our payload and arm geometry data.

EP-ZDS-142 at 20:1 two-stage for the main eccentric shaft drive on a 300-tonne servo press — Korean automotive door inner panel stamping. Previous oil-lubricated worm gear drive required bi-annual oil changes (2 days each including press lockout, oil drain, refill, re-commissioning). ZDS-142 sealed-for-life eliminated the oil change entirely. Press line uptime improved by 4 days per year per press across our 8-press line — 32 days total annual uptime recovery. The IP65 rating handles our press line's lubricant mist and cleaning protocol without additional covers. After 27 months, no lubrication issues, backlash stable at the installation baseline measurement. Korea Ever-Power's application team confirmed the torsional stiffness budget was within our press dynamic accuracy specification before we ordered.

EP-ZDS-115 at 20:1 two-stage for the main kneading head drive on a 500 L industrial dough mixer — HACCP-certified Korean bakery production line. Required 220 N·m continuous output torque, IP65 for 85°C steam and cold-water CIP washdown twice daily. Previous gearbox was a helical gear unit with oil-level sight glass — the sight glass cracked in the first CIP cycle and contaminated a batch; production halt and sanitation event cost approximately 8M KRW. ZDS-115 has no sight glass, no oil port, no external sealing surface other than the output shaft lip seal and housing joint — both are IP65 rated. Now 19 months, 730 CIP cycles, zero contamination events. Korea Ever-Power confirmed the ZDS-115 IP65 sealing specification before we committed to the hygienic design.

Related Products in the Korea Ever-Power Range

When EP-ZDS is the correct specification for torque and IP rating, the following Korea Ever-Power 精密行星齿轮箱 series address the precision range below ZDS or the rack-drive applications at equivalent torque levels.

EP-ZDE Series — Round Flange, up to 800 N·m, IP54

When the application torque is below 800 N·m, IP54 splash protection is adequate, and a round bore mount is preferred — EP-ZDE provides <8 arcmin backlash, 96% single-stage efficiency, and five frame sizes (40–160 mm) at lower cost and weight than EP-ZDS. Choose EP-ZDE for standard precision automation where the heavy-load capabilities of EP-ZDS are not required.

EP-ZDF Series — Square Flange, up to 800 N·m, IP54

When the application torque is below 800 N·m, IP54 is adequate, and a square flange plate-mount installation is required — EP-ZDF provides the same <8 arcmin backlash and 96% efficiency as EP-ZDE with a square mounting flange that bolts to flat machine plates without precision boring. Choose EP-ZDF over EP-ZDS when heavy-load capacity and IP65 are not required.

EP-AP/APK Series — Curvic Plate Rack Drive, up to 14,010 N·m

When the application is a rack-and-pinion linear drive requiring torque above EP-ZDS range — the EP-AP Curvic Plate rack-drive series delivers up to 14,010 N·m for Korean gantry machine tools, heavy portal cranes, and large-format laser cutting systems, with the patented single-screw self-centring pinion replacement that reduces maintenance downtime from hours to minutes.

When should I choose EP-ZDS instead of EP-ZDE/ZDF-160?

Choose this high-stiffness planetary gear reducer when any one of these four conditions applies to your application: (1) Output torque exceeds 800 N·m — EP-ZDE/ZDF-160 is the maximum precision series frame, EP-ZDS starts where it ends; (2) Axial load exceeds 3,000 N — EP-ZDE-160 is limited to 3,000 N axial, while EP-ZDS-190 handles 28,000 N; (3) IP65 is required — only EP-ZDS carries IP65 in the EP range, all others are IP54; (4) Higher torsional stiffness is needed for dynamic accuracy — EP-ZDS-190 at 130 N·m/arcmin provides 3.4× the stiffness of EP-ZDE-160 at 38 N·m/arcmin. If none of these apply, EP-ZDE or EP-ZDF is the more cost-effective specification.

Does EP-ZDS maintain <8 arcmin backlash at 1,800 N·m — is the precision specification the same as EP-ZDE?

Yes — EP-ZDS delivers <8 arcmin backlash on all three frame sizes (115/142/190) for single-stage configurations, measured at ±3% of allowable output torque, identical to the measurement standard applied to EP-ZDE/ZDF. This is a significant distinguishing characteristic: most heavy-load gear reducers at 1,800 N·m use helical or worm gear stages that sacrifice backlash for torque capacity. EP-ZDS uses the same precision planetary gear grinding process as EP-ZDE, producing the same sub-8-arcmin result at 2.25× the torque. The backlash specification applies to the gear stage only and does not include the input shaft coupling clearance — use the S-type clamping input to minimise the total system backlash contribution.

What does IP65 mean in practice, and does it cover a full machine washdown with a pressure washer?

IP65 per IEC 60529 means: (1) fully dust-tight — no dust ingress under any condition; (2) protected against water projected by a 6.3 mm nozzle at 12.5 L/min from any direction. This covers standard industrial hose and pressure washer cleaning at standard cleaning pressure (not jet-strip pressure washers above 10 bar). It does not cover high-pressure water jets above 10 bar (which is IP66/IP67 territory) or immersion. For typical Korean HACCP food-processing CIP cleaning and automotive body-shop washdown procedures, IP65 is the required standard and EP-ZDS fully meets it. If your application involves pressures above 10 bar or temporary immersion, contact Korea Ever-Power to discuss IP67 custom sealing options.

Why is the EP-ZDS-190 maximum input speed 3,000 rpm rather than 4,500 rpm?

The 3,000 rpm maximum input speed for EP-ZDS-190 (recommended 2,000 rpm) reflects the larger gear mass and bearing diameter of the 190-frame unit — at higher input speeds, the centrifugal stress on the larger planet gears and the heat generation from the larger bearing preload both exceed the thermal budget of the sealed lubrication system. For EP-ZDS-115 and EP-ZDS-142, the maximum remains 4,500 rpm. If your ZDS-190 application requires high output shaft speed and a servo motor operating above 2,000 rpm is planned, select a lower gear ratio so that the required output speed is achieved within the 2,000 rpm recommended input speed limit — Korea Ever-Power's application team can assist with this calculation.

Does EP-ZDS require more frequent maintenance than EP-ZDE/ZDF given its higher rated torque?

No — EP-ZDS uses the same factory-sealed lifetime lubrication as all EP series, rated for 20,000 hours at the full rated load (1,800 N·m for ZDS-190). There is no scheduled re-lubrication interval, no oil change cycle, and no lubrication port on the housing. The only additional maintenance check for EP-ZDS compared to EP-ZDE/ZDF is a torsional stiffness verification at the first 10,000-hour inspection (approximately 4–5 years of two-shift operation) — by measuring the output shaft angular deflection under a known static torque load and confirming it has not increased beyond 10% of the installation baseline, indicating bearing or gear wear. The periodic lip seal visual inspection (every 5,000 hours) and mounting bolt re-torque check (at first 5,000-hour inspection) are the same as for EP-ZDF.
