EP-ADS Series Round Flange Inline Planetary Gearbox — Five Targeted Ratios (EP-ADS047 to EP-ADS255)
The EP-ADS Series is a round circular-flange inline planetary gearbox that shares the same frame sizes, P0/P1/P2 backlash grades, and performance specifications as the EP-AD series, but offers a focused set of five two-stage gear ratios — 16, 21, 31, 61, and 91 — instead of the twelve available in EP-AD. The four non-standard ratios (21, 31, 61, 91) are engineered specifically for applications that require precise output speeds from standard 1,450 rpm or 1,500 rpm motor inputs, without requiring a VFD. Single-stage ratios remain 4, 5, 7, and 10. Output torque spans 14 N·m to 2,000 N·m across seven frames, EP-ADS047 to EP-ADS255. Single-stage efficiency ≥97%, IP65, −10 °C to +90 °C. The round circular output flange self-centres into rotary table and actuator bores as in EP-AD.
EP-ADS Series — Round Flange Inline Planetary Gearbox with Five Targeted Two-Stage Ratios

16–91
Flange
The EP-ADS series round flange inline planetary gearbox answers a specific application question: when your machine design requires a circular self-centring flange output, one of the four special gear ratios — 21, 31, 61, or 91 — and the full P0/P1/P2 precision grade selection, but does not need the twelve-ratio breadth of the EP-AD round flange planetary gearbox, then EP-ADS is the product engineered specifically for your requirement.
EP-ADS provides exactly five two-stage ratios: 16, 21, 31, 61, and 91. The four non-standard values are not standard planetary combinations — they are specific ratios engineered to deliver precise output speeds from standard 4-pole motor inputs (1,450 rpm or 1,500 rpm) without requiring a variable-frequency drive. All the structural and performance characteristics of the EP-AD series are present: the same round circular-flange pilot geometry for self-centring bore installation, identical P0/P1/P2 backlash grades, ≥97% single-stage efficiency, −10 °C to +90 °C operating range, and IP65 dust and water jet protection.
EP-ADS vs EP-AD — When Five Ratios Are Exactly Right
The EP-ADS and EP-AD series share the same round-flange geometry, the same frame sizes, and the same P0/P1/P2 backlash grades. The single difference is the two-stage ratio set. Understanding which series fits your application is therefore a single decision: does your required output speed correspond to one of the five EP-ADS ratios, or do you need one of the additional seven ratios available only in EP-AD?

EP-ADS vs EP-AD — Selection Decision
| Your Requirement | → Choose EP-ADS ★ | → Choose EP-AD |
|---|---|---|
| Two-stage ratio needed | Exactly one of: 16, 21, 31, 61, or 91 | 20, 25, 35, 40, 50, 70, 100 or any ratio EP-ADS lacks |
| Output speed target | Matches the five EP-ADS output speed bands | Falls between the five EP-ADS bands |
| Flange geometry | Round circular self-centring flange — identical in both EP-ADS and EP-AD | |
| Backlash precision | P0/P1/P2 — identical grades in both series | |
| Single-stage ratio | 4, 5, 7, 10 — identical in both series (no i=3/6/8/9) | |
| Efficiency / Temperature / IP | Identical: ≥97% single-stage · ≥94% two-stage · −10 to +90 °C · IP65 | |
| Frame sizes available | ADS/AD 047 / 064 / 090 / 110 / 140 / 200 / 255 — identical | |
If you need a two-stage ratio not in EP-ADS — specifically 20, 25, 35, 40, 50, 70, or 100 — the EP-ADS series does not offer those values. You must select the EP-AD round flange planetary gearbox for the full twelve-ratio range. EP-ADS is not a restricted EP-AD — it is a separately engineered product optimised for the five specific ratios it provides.
The Five Ratios — Exact Output Speeds from Standard Motor Inputs
EP-ADS delivers the following output speeds from the three most common Korean industrial motor speeds. These are the target speeds the EP-ADS ratio set is engineered to reach — no VFD required for fixed-speed applications.
| Ratio | Output @ 1,450 rpm |
Output @ 1,500 rpm |
Output @ 3,000 rpm servo |
Typical application speed target |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 16 | 90.6 rpm | 93.8 rpm | 187.5 rpm | Moderate-speed rotary table, high-cycle indexing head |
| 21 ★ | 69.0 rpm | 71.4 rpm | 142.9 rpm | Synchronised assembly conveyors at 70 rpm, welding positioners (fills gap between i=20 at 75 rpm and i=25 at 60 rpm) |
| 31 ★ | 46.8 rpm | 48.4 rpm | 96.8 rpm | CNC turret indexing at ~48 rpm, automotive assembly station drives (fills gap between i=25 at 60 rpm and i=35 at 43 rpm) |
| 61 ★ | 23.8 rpm | 24.6 rpm | 49.2 rpm | Precision rotary tables at ~24 rpm, slow-rotation welding turntables (fills gap between i=50 at 30 rpm and i=70 at 21 rpm) |
| 91 ★ | 15.9 rpm | 16.5 rpm | 33.0 rpm | Very slow precision turntables ~16 rpm, hollow-shaft cobot joints (fills gap between i=70 at 21 rpm and i=100 at 15 rpm) |
★ Non-standard ratios — not achievable by simple product of the 4/5/7/10 single-stage values. These four ratios are the defining characteristic of the EP-ADS series and represent the primary reason to choose EP-ADS over EP-AD when only these output speed bands are required.

Applications — Where the Five Targeted Ratios Solve the Speed Specification
i=61 — Precision Rotary Tables at ~24 rpm
Korean rotary table OEMs building 4th-axis units for heavy titanium and steel machining centres require a drive output of 23–24 rpm from a standard 1,450 rpm motor — a speed that falls between the i=50 (29.0 rpm) and i=70 (20.7 rpm) values available in standard gearbox families. EP-ADS at i=61 delivers 23.8 rpm from 1,450 rpm input. The round-flange output pilots directly into the table housing bore for zero-measurement installation. EP-ADS090 and EP-ADS110 at i=61, P1 grade cover the most common 4th-axis torque requirements in Korean CNC machining centres with precision CV drive shafts for dual-motor table configurations.
i=21 — Synchronised Assembly Line Drives at ~70 rpm
Korean automotive and electronics assembly lines running synchronised index tables at 70–72 rpm from direct-online induction motors cannot match this speed with i=20 (72.5 rpm, 4% fast) or i=25 (58 rpm, too slow). EP-ADS at i=21 from a 1,500 rpm motor gives 71.4 rpm — the target speed with a single fixed-ratio gearbox and no VFD. For assembly line OEMs deploying 20–50 index tables per line, eliminating VFDs at each station reduces installation cost, electrical noise, and speed synchronisation variance between stations.
i=91 — Hollow-Shaft Actuators and Very Low Output Speed
EP-ADS047 and EP-ADS064 at i=91 P0 serve hollow-shaft collaborative robot joints, optical positioning actuators, and semiconductor handling theta axes requiring sub-arcminute precision at very low output speeds (15–17 rpm from standard motor inputs). The round-flange pilot geometry self-centres the gearbox in the actuator bore — eliminating the shaft alignment variance that accumulates over repeated maintenance and motor replacement cycles. For vertical robot axis configurations, pairing with a self-locking worm reducer stage provides gravity load holding at any position.

i=31 — CNC Turret Drives
CNC lathe turret tool changers require a gear reducer that fits concentrically into the turret cylindrical housing bore — EP-ADS round-flange self-centring geometry provides this directly. The i=31 ratio at 1,450 rpm input gives 46.8 rpm — a common turret indexing speed for Korean CNC turning centre tool changers. The circular pilot diameter eliminates alignment eccentricity that would cause tool tip position error during indexing.
i=16 — High-Cycle Index Heads
High-cycle rotary index heads on Korean PCB drilling machines, automotive component inspection fixtures, and electronic assembly palletising systems typically require ~90 rpm table speed from a standard motor. EP-ADS at i=16 delivers 90.6 rpm from a 1,450 rpm input. The P0 ≤1 arcmin grade is available for index heads where cumulative positional error across many cycles must remain within tight angular bounds.
Agricultural Automation — i=31/61 Seeder Heads
Korean precision agriculture seeder head drives require a specific seed disc rotation rate matched to planting spacing and forward travel speed. EP-ADS at i=31 or i=61, combined with downstream agricultural bevel gearboxes, delivers the precise seeder head rotation rate directly from a servo motor — allowing variable-rate planting through motor speed control while the gearbox provides the required mechanical reduction within the seeder head housing bore.

Why Korean Engineers Specify Korea Ever-Power EP-ADS Series

🎯
Engineered for Five Specific Speed Targets
EP-ADS does not offer the five ratios as a subset of EP-AD. The 21, 31, 61, and 91 ratios are non-standard values independently engineered for each product — they cannot be achieved by combining the 4/5/7/10 single-stage values. This means EP-ADS is purpose-built for the output speed bands these ratios define, rather than being a simplified variant of a broader product.
⭕
Same Round-Flange CMM-Verified Self-Centring as EP-AD
EP-ADS carries the same precision pilot diameter and bolt-circle geometry as the EP-AD series — CMM-verified to H6/H7 bore fit tolerances. Machine builders who have already qualified the round-flange installation process for EP-AD can transfer that qualification directly to EP-ADS without re-qualification.
🔌
Eliminates VFD on Fixed-Speed Applications
For Korean assembly line, index table, and turret applications with a fixed, unchanging output speed requirement, EP-ADS lets a direct-online induction motor drive the output at exactly the target speed — removing the VFD, its cabinet space, wiring, PLC interface, and potential noise interference. For OEMs building 30–100 machines per year, eliminating the VFD on each drive station produces significant accumulated cost and complexity savings.
🎓
Full P0/P1/P2 Precision Grade Selection
EP-ADS does not sacrifice precision to provide the targeted ratio set. The full P0 (≤1 arcmin), P1 (≤3 arcmin), and P2 (≤5 arcmin) single-stage grades are available on all five ratios across all seven frame sizes — the same precision specification as EP-AD and the EP-AB square-flange series.
🌡️
−10 to +90 °C — Korean Winter to Process Heat
The standard series grease operating range of −10 °C to +90 °C covers Korean outdoor winter conditions without heated enclosures, and the high ambient temperature of Korean industrial machining environments without additional cooling. Direct-online induction motor drives with EP-ADS operate across this range without separate VFD thermal management.

EP-ADS090 P1, i=61 for our 500 mm 4th-axis rotary table. We tried using EP-AD at i=50 (29 rpm — too fast for our titanium milling cycle) and i=70 (20.7 rpm — too slow for our surface speed). EP-ADS at i=61 gives 23.8 rpm from our 1,450 rpm motor — exactly the table speed our cutting parameters require. The round flange pilots straight into our 92 mm H7 bore. No dial indicator required, same as with our previous EP-AD units. Korea Ever-Power confirmed the i=61 output speed to three decimal places before we ordered. 18 months, 12 tables, zero issues.
EP-ADS090 P2, i=21 on a synchronised automotive body panel assembly line — 40 index tables, direct-online 1,500 rpm induction motor on each. Target table speed was 71 rpm. With i=20 we were getting 75 rpm (5.6% fast, causing panel misalignment at station transfer). With EP-ADS i=21 we get 71.4 rpm — within 0.6% of target, well within the system's synchronisation tolerance. Removing 40 VFDs from the line saved approximately ₩38 million in equipment cost and eliminated the cross-station speed variation noise that was creating quality alerts on our SPC system. EP-ADS paid for itself in the first line deployment.
EP-ADS064 P0, i=91 for the wrist joint of a 7-kg payload collaborative robot. Required: sub-arcminute backlash, ~16 rpm max joint speed, round-flange bore installation in a 68 mm H6 housing bore. EP-ADS fit all three requirements simultaneously — no other Korea Ever-Power round-flange series offers P0 at i=91 in a 64 mm body. The non-standard ratio 91:1 cannot be approximated by standard combinatorial ratios close enough for our motor selection — it had to be exactly 91. Korea Ever-Power confirmed this was a purpose-engineered ratio. Inertia ratio and output speed calculations were provided in Korean on the same business day we enquired.

Accessories & Complementary Transmission Products
Korea Ever-Power supplies the transmission components that work alongside the EP-ADS round flange inline planetary gearbox in Korean machine designs. The EP-AD round flange planetary gearbox is the natural alternative when the required two-stage ratio falls outside the 16/21/31/61/91 set — offering the same circular flange geometry with twelve ratio options.

CV Joint Drive Shafts
For EP-ADS installations where the output shaft axis must be offset from the load centre — dual-drive rotary table configurations, offset conveyor drive layouts, or flexible linkages between the EP-ADS circular-flange output and the driven machinery. CV drive shafts transmit the output torque through offset and angular misalignment without introducing additional backlash.
Worm Gear Reducers
For vertical EP-ADS output axes where the load must be held in position on servo power-off — vertical tilting fixtures, vertical column positioners, and hoist mechanisms — a downstream self-locking worm gear reducer provides gravity load holding without an electromagnetic brake. Worm stages also extend the EP-ADS speed reduction range below the 91:1 maximum two-stage output for very slow rotation requirements.
Agricultural Gearboxes
Korean precision agriculture automation using EP-ADS servo-driven seeder head and fertiliser spreader drives connects to downstream bevel and spiral-bevel agricultural gearboxes for PTO-driven multi-output configurations. The targeted i=31 and i=61 ratios of EP-ADS are particularly suited to precision seeder drive systems where the seed disc rotation rate must match the planting spacing specification without VFD adjustment.
